Blog for Week-01/25/16-Poetry Response

The poem I chose to write about is "A Bed of Clouds" by Ashley L. May. This poem talks about how she, Ashley L. May, is a dreamer. She says how she is is sleeps in the clouds and dreams in the sky. She explains how she is going to continue dreaming as her life passes by and how dreaming keeps her balanced. Towards the end of the poem she says how she knows one day she is going to have to wake up from her dream and how other people tell her, that her life is going to go anywhere, but she believes otherwise.

I think that the author wrote this poem to explain to others something about her. That something being her as a dreamer. I also think she wrote this poem because one thing she says is that others say that her life isn't going to go anywhere, so she wrote this to address them and to prove them wrong. This poem reminds me a lot of myself. Myself because I am a big dreamer so I felt like I connected to this poem. I believe in the impossible and a lot of people think the impossible is well impossible. I also do believe that if I didn't dream I wouldn't be the way I am.

I chose this picture because it shows what I visualized while reading the poem. It is a person whose head is in the clouds. It is also like if the person's body is on land, but their head is in the sky. In the poem she talks a lot about dreaming in the sky and clouds and this picture describes that. That is why I chose this picture.

"A Bed of Clouds"

I sleep in the clouds, dream in the sky,
I'll keep dreaming as life passes me by,
I think my dreams keep me sane,
I dream of happiness, a life without pain,
some people say I'm stuck in this place,
and I'll never go anywhere,
but in my dreams I've already been there,
I know some day I'll have to wake up,
but I feel the real world is more like a nightmare,
I'm safe in my closed eye wonderland,
this poem goes to all the dreamers that understand,
no matter what they say...

keep your dreams but don't dream your life away,

Second Quarter Reflections

Prompts: In what area do you think you made your biggest improvements in English Language Arts?
How have your research skills improved?
What is something you have accomplished since the new year that you are proud of?

The area that I think I have improved the most is in grammar. I think I improved the most in grammar because we have had more practice with it. Before I knew grammar, but over the years I started to forget somethings. Now that we have had a refresher on it, I know it and in my opinion I think my writing has been better.

My research skills have improved so much during not just the quarter but the year. Before I would just cite the websites at the end of my project, but now I can cite my sources properly. I know this is going to benefit me in the future a lot. Not just for school but also for future jobs.

Something that I have accomplished since new year that I am proud of is being more focused. I was focused before but now I am more focused in my classes. I feel that now I have that I am playing a sport it makes me work harder and do all of my homework. Before I would work hard and do my homework but I did it because I knew I had to not because I wanted to. Now I want to and have to because of volleyball.

Blog for Week 1-20-16

Outlaw: The Legend of Robin Hood by: Tony Lee
Page: 1- Finished
Genre: Historic Fiction

My book for this blog is Outlaw: The Legend of Robin Hood by Tony Lee. It is a historic fictional book. It is set in the year of 1192 in England. The main character is Robin of Loxley or Robin Hood. He is a brave man who will risk dying for a friends. The problem is that King Richard is in Jerusalem fighting and his brother, Prince John, is in charge of his kingdom. Recently he has been doing some bad thing to his kingdom. Now Robin has to make everything right and go back to the way King Richard left it. This book has a really exciting mood because it makes wonder what will happen next. I think that theme of this book is justice because after Prince John messes of the kingdom, Robin has to go make it all right for King Richard.

I really liked this book because it was very interesting and descriptive. The pictures were very nicely made and helped the story move along. The best thing I liked about this book is about how descriptive they were when talking. Even though it is a graphic novel their conversations had good word choice. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading graphic novels and books about historic fictional characters like Robin Hood, because you get to know more about Robin Hood. In this book you get to know more about him and the story behind him.

Blog for Week 12/14/15- School's Out-Forever By James Patterson

Prompt: Pretend you are the friend of one of the characters. Write him or her a letter.
School's Out-Forever by James Patterson
Page: 152-217

Dear Max,
This is Brimady, if you didn’t know already, I just wanted to see how your life is outside of the School. Life for me has been good, they don’t do as many tests on me anymore or anyone for that matter. They just focus on upgrading the Erasers and capturing you and the flock. Since they focus so much on you, people would think they would stop getting more kids but no. It’s crazy how many features they want to put in a single body, that don’t even work together well.
After you broke Ari’s neck he can’t stop talking about how he is going to get revenge and kill you. Except last time I saw him he wasn’t talking about killing you, he said something about keeping you his prisoner and cutting off your wings. You should watch out for Ari he has become psycho.
Enough about me, I have some questions about your life. Is it true you are living with a human? There is a rumor going around the School that you are living with a human and she doesn’t know about your special abilities. Friends of Ari say that it’s a trap and the human actually works for the School. They also say that almost everything about the life you have made is setup to capture you.

Sincerely, Brimady
